Case study 03 — Enterprise operations

Six collaboration tools, replaced by one

An entire organization was coordinating across six disconnected products. Nobody could answer a simple question — who is working on what, right now — without checking four of them.

Context

The situation

The organization had adopted a different best-in-class tool for each function, and the seams between them became the operational bottleneck. Work items lived in one product, the conversation about them in another, and availability in a third. The brief was to build a single system rather than integrate the six.

Challenges

What was in the way

  • 01

Six or more disconnected tools carrying day-to-day collaboration

  • 02

No real-time visibility into team activity or availability

  • 03

Project workflows requiring Kanban, calendar, and notes to stay in sync manually

  • 04

A need for video conferencing at 500+ participants

  • 05

Data spread across platforms with no single source of truth

Approach

What we built and why

01

Real-time communication engine

WebSocket-powered chat with live presence, typing indicators, and video conferencing supporting 500+ participants in a single session.

02

Integrated project management

Drag-and-drop Kanban boards, a native calendar with in-app RSVP, and collaborative notes — all reading and writing the same underlying records.

03

Embedded productivity suite

In-app spreadsheets and an AI assistant, removing the last reasons to leave the platform mid-task.

04

Direct database architecture

Supabase with raw SQL rather than an ORM, chosen deliberately for query control and predictable performance at real-time write volumes.
